Mike van Oudtshoorn

It is with deepest regret that we have to announce that Mike van Oudtshoorn the founder and inspiration behind i-coach academy passed away on the 15th July 2016.
Mike had a passion for coaching informed by his own deep and varied personal experiences of learning and helping others to learn throughout his life. He founded i-coach academy in 2001 with a belief that there are multiple approaches to coaching and coaches should be able to identify what their signature presence is and be able to make explicit what they do, based on rigorous research, practice and reflection.
His philosophy of coaching has been at the centre of pioneering courses in the UK, USA and South Africa. Mike was an inspirational teacher, coach and mentor who generously but humbly shared his wisdom and wit and challenged everyone regardless of rank or position leaving them always further forward on their learning journey. He will be deeply missed by the i-coach community.

Thoughts
So very sad. I knew Mike through working on a series of big Corporate projects and presenting at conferences together in Italy and Holland. Sure he was a great academic and clearly a master of his subject but actually........I will remember him not like that all, but mainly as a thoroughly good guy who I really liked, got on with and thought of as a friend. Rest in peace Mike, hope there is the odd glass of Barolo available up there. Condolences to all his family!

Such sad news...my heartfelt condolences to Mike's family and all who hold him dear.
I remember with fondness and gratitude his kindness and forthrightness in helping me make the choice to embark on the i-coach masters programme - thank you Mike.
He was an inspiration to so many, a shining light of wisdom, passion and courage in the coaching world and he will be sorely missed.
May your heart and soul find peace and comfort.
